I have been asked several times what I use on a new OS when I install it. Now I never have used a Mac but on Windows I always go in this order.

  1. Microsoft Update –I always run update to make sure the OS is secured and running smooth.
  2. Microsoft Security Essentials-Now that Microsoft offers a great free virus protector I install it next.
  3. CCleaner-Put this in and run it to clean up installation files and registry before I start adding in all what I want. Side note:always change erase settles to wipe more then once. :-)
  4. IOBit’s Smart Defrag- Of coarse you want everything lined up so defrag now. I use Smart Defrag first.
  5. Mozilla Firefox-Better Faster Secured Browser. :-)
  6. Hijack This-Always the best Spyware protector. I only add this one because you don’t need much since Windows Defender is Loaded when you update.
  7. VLC Media-Plays everything.
  8. Open Office-You need office software and you don’t want to pay or steal.. this is the best.
  9. Pidgin-Because I like to stay connected to whatever client you have and the pidgin does it all.
  10. Foxit Reader-As they say on their web site “NO BLOAT PDF Reader”
  11. Zinio Reader- I love my PC Magazine and I love it digitally.
  12. Steam-I am a huge Portal Fan.
  13. Black Viper-Not something I add but something I do. Clean up running programs.
  14. I don’t have a program for this but lastly I kill all startups but the ones I really need. I don’t like waiting forever for a PC to boot. :-)
  15. Last step  CCleaner and Smart Defrag one more time.

Now I am ready for all I want to do. Hope that helps.

Sound, Sound the Truth Abroad

Sound, sound the truth abroad;
Bear ye the Word of God
Through the wide world;
Tell what our Lord hath done,
Tell how the day is won,
Tell from his lofty throne
Satan is hurled.

Far over sea and land
Go at your Lord’s command;
Bear ye His Name;
Bear it to every shore,
Regions unknown explore,
Enter at every door:
Silence is shame.

Speed on the wings of love;
Jesus, who reigns above,
Bids us to fly;
They who His message bear
Should neither doubt nor fear,
He will their Friend appear,
He will be nigh.

When on the mighty deep,
He will their spirits keep,
Stayed on His Word;
When in a foreign land,
No other friend at hand,
Jesus will by them stand—
Jesus, their Lord.

Ye who, forsaking all,
At your loved Master’s call,
Comforts resign;
Soon will your work be done,
Soon will the prize be won,
Brighter than yonder sun,
Then shall ye shine.

Thanks go to Thomas Kelly for these great words.

My Eyes are Dry

My Eyes are Dry, my faith is old.

My heart is hard, my prayers are cold,

And I know how I ought to be,

Alive to You and dead to me.

Oh what can be done, for an old heart like mine.

Soften it up, with oil and wine.

The oil is You, Your Spirit of love,

Please wash me anew, In the wine of your blood

My Eyes are Dry, my faith is old.

My heart is hard, my prayers are cold,

And I know how I ought to be,

Alive to You and dead to me

Xmas Rat PackAhhhh, it’s a marshmallow world in the winter,
When the snow comes to cover the ground.
It’s the time for play, it’s a whipped cream day,
I wait for it the whole year round!

Those are marshmallow clouds being friendly,
In the arms of the evergreen trees;
And the sun is red like a pumpkin head,
It’s shining so your nose won’t freeze!

The world is your snowball, see how it grows,
That’s how it goes, whenever it snows.
The world is your snowball just for a song,
Get out and roll it along!

It’s a yum-yummy world made for sweethearts,
Take a walk with your favorite girl.
It’s a sugar date, so what if spring is late,
In winter it’s a marshmallow world!

It’s a marshmallow day in the winter,
When the snow comes to cover the ground.
It’s the time for play, it’s a whipped cream day,
And we wait for it the whole year round!

This is my favorite fun Christmas song! :-)

Make Your Calling and Election Sure

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

An oppressive condition of physical, mental, social, or economic distress

This is the way I have felt all week. It has been building up for awhile but I have tried to pretend it was not there. Laurie and I are not making it financially. We are not even close. I am having to look for work.. more work. Mowing lawns on the side has been a bad idea because I have not mowed in over a month. I started at applying on-line at several places in hopes of a quick response. My friends I ask you to pray that God will be with my family while I am away more often. Pray also for me because this will be a spiritual struggle because with a new job means most likely no time for anything else including church and reading. Pray also this will be profitable in a way to pull us out of this financial mess not drag us in further. I am not asking for donations because we are in this because of our own foolishness. I just need strength and prayer.

Well, I am trying to build a server for my church. I could not decide on what OS to use. Do i want to go easy and purchase Windows or do I want to go challenging and use Linux? And then I see Ubuntu now has a server edition! So this next saturday I am going to give it a shot. Does anyone know how easy or good Ubuntu server edition is?

We are having another baby!!! Thats right Laurie is seven weeks pregnant. We are so very excited to see how God has blessed us again. Please pray for Laurie as she already has begun the tiredness and some pain. And to answer the question everyone asks us, we don’t have a preference for boy or girl. We are just grateful for the gift God has given us.
